The Women Building Communities 2015 is fast approaching and it is time to celebrate yet a number of great MAAs of Africa, who are impacting on ordinary people within our community. The public is hereby invited to submit nominations for the Mother Africa Award for Community Development, an award specially created to celebrate individuals within African communities using resources within their means to facilitate development of African communities. According to Railu Ladidi Mustapha-Tiamiyu, the Chairperson of the WBC planning committee, a potential awardee could come from any part of the world, but have to be individuals passionate about African Development and especially those involve in activities promoting the emancipation of African women for their growth and that of their communities. The WBC 2015 is scheduled to take place between 23rd to 27th of November 2015, the WBC is an initial five year intervention project involving series of trainings, workshops and award ceremony targeted at empowering at least 250 African women with skills needed to embark on community development projects. The intervention which has a projection of 50 women each year recorded a good sucess in its maiden edition and the planning committee for WBC2015 have stated that this years event promises to surpass the achievement last year. They have called on all interested participants, sponsors, African government and other stakeholders to come together to build a better African community through special intervention such as WBC. The theme for the 2015 WBC is “Community Developmwnt Project: Taking the right approach”.
